Tybee for the Holidays

Tybee for the Holidays is a beloved island tradition that captures the magic of the season with a unique coastal twist. Hosted by Tybee Island Main Street, this festive series of events brings the community together to celebrate the holidays in true Tybee style—fun, laid-back, and full of cheer!

The season kicks off with our annual Holiday Market, where local artisans and vendors line the street with handmade gifts, seasonal treats, and plenty of holiday spirit. It’s the perfect opportunity to shop small, support local, and find one-of-a-kind presents while enjoying live music, warm drinks, and a joyful atmosphere.

That evening, we officially welcome the season with our Tree Lighting Ceremony. Held down front, the event features caroling, appearances from Santa, and the magical moment when we flip the switch and light up the town tree—followed by plenty of photo ops and holiday cheer.

In December, the fun continues with the Tybee Island Christmas Parade of Lights, a dazzling procession of floats, lights, and festive characters making their way through the streets and spreading joy to all who gather to watch. And to start the New Year off with a splash, join us for the annual Polar Plunge—where hundreds of brave (and slightly chilly) souls dash into the Atlantic Ocean to ring in January 1st with a burst of adrenaline and laughter.

Tybee for the Holidays is more than just a celebration—it’s a reminder of the island’s close-knit community, creative spirit, and love for tradition. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, we invite you to be part of the magic!
